cps tet (Cumulative Proficiency Score Teacher Eligibility Test) is an exam conducted in India for teachers which is primarily aimed at determining the knowledge and skills of a teacher. It is jointly managed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The concept behind the TET exams was proposed in 2005 by the Right to Education Act.
The CPS TET Exam consists of two papers – A & B. Paper A focuses on the pedagogical aspects and aims to test a candidate's ability to apply his/her knowledge in teaching students. It consists of questions related to teaching-learning process, understanding children with special needs, assessment strategies, among others. Paper B focuses on language proficiency, higher level cognitive skills such as critical thinking and analytical ability, problem solving skills along with conceptual clarity on different subjects such as Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences.
Candidates who score above 50% marks in both Paper A and Paper B are declared as qualified for the CPS TET Exam. This score is considered valid for seven years from the date of declaration of results for getting teacher appointments in recognized schools or private educational institutions throughout India.
The primary objective behind conducting this exam is to measure a teacher's competence level in various aspects related to teaching so that better quality teaching can be provided to students across India. Moreover, it also helps promote transparency with respect to selection process of teachers and have better accountability amongst them by testing their knowledge base which they have acquired over time through experience or other means.
In summary, CPS TET is an exam which assesses a candidate's knowledge base related to pedagogy, language proficiency and higher order cognitive skills along with content understanding through subject wise questions for qualifying as a teacher for recognized schools/ private institutions throughout India. It thus helps promote quality teaching amongst students by measuring quality parameters associated with candidates appearing for this exam so that only competent teaching personnel are appointed at various positions across our nation
